Verifiers

You know green building.

Home building industry professionals, find out how to become a verifier.

Verifiers accredited by the NAHB Research Center for its national green home certification program are expected to independently confirm, through a process of document review and on-site inspections, that all green program requirements and points specified by a builder are in place for a candidate home.

The resources below were created to assist those accredited, or in the process of becoming accredited green home certification verifiers.

  • The Verification Report is an Excel document that contains all of the checklist items from the NAHB Model Green Home Building Guidelines. A verifier must manually enter points claimed and points rewarded in this spreadsheet, and submit to the NAHB Research Center for final certification of a home.
  • The National Green Building Certification Verifier's Resource Guide provides clear guidance on what to look for and when to give points during the rough and final inspections of homes submitted for certification.
  • The Verification Process outlines the steps to follow when verifying a green home.
  • Notify the Research Center of upcoming rough and final inspections with the Verification Inspection Schedule.

Note that all training materials, including but not limited to the Verifier's Resource Guide and the Verification Report, are the property of the Research Center and shall be used exclusively in connection with the Research Center's Green Building Certification.
